What We Offer

Homework help:

Advance students and college graduates will assist students with homework.  Many of our youth do not have any to help them with homework.  By giving assistance with homework this will help the youth to stay in school  and not become frustrated with not knowing.

Tutoring:

Additional help will be offered to students that seem to be struggling with a particular subject.

Mentoring:

Group mentoring or one on one mentoring will be offered to students that are recommended by the schools or their parents.  It has been proven that youth that are mentored stay in school, away from drugs, gangs and go forth to become model citizens.

Computor Lab:

Will be offered to youth as well as adults.  Training will be giving by volunteers on the latest computer programs.  A time is approaching when a person who does not know how to use a computer will be functionally illiterate.  The time has come to stress the importance of creating spread sheets, graphic arts, and word processing ot prepare our youth and the community for today as well as the future.

Life Skills:

Standing against Drugs and Alcohol:

Will teach how to say no to drugs and alcohol  by involving them in discussion and role-playing,  We  will demonstrate how media and peer influence can affect their decisions.

Conflict resolution:

Discussing ways to handle conflict without violence and in a positive way.

Lets talk: (rap session)

Will give youth an opportunity to openly discuss any concerns they may have.  These open discussions will encourage healthy attitudes and lifestyles of youth and young adults.  Young people believe adults aren’t really concerned about the things they are facing or don’t understand.  We want to show them that we are caring and will express to them that open discussions can deter bad choices.

Character Building:

Respect yourself:

Designed to build self esteem in young ladies.  Teaching them to respect and love themselves.  By building a healthy sense of self in young ladies will also lead to abstinence.  Will teach that comparing themselves to someone else instead of finding out their destiny will lead to envy and jealousy and give them a false sense of measurement they can never live up to.  Teach them that comparing and envy leads to low self esteem and acceptance of being disrespected.

We will teach the young ladies to have a desire to fulfill their potential in life with a sense of dignity, honor, respect and destiny.

Journey to Manhood:

Many homes are without fathers or male role models to influence, encourage and discuss issues with young men as they journey into manhood.  Male volunteers will discuss issues that young men face today and also spend time taking them to events.
